hillside access 4 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 19
I spent the day building access roads around the hillside for next year's plantings and for future crops. This morning a goat could barely climb it, but now I have cut some decent roads good for tractors or four wheelers. Most certain it will make any application to the plantings a lot easier and faster with the use of equipment.

Pretty steep there bud. You and your equipment must be part billy goat. Look forward to seeing the pics someday in the near future from the seed you plant there this coming fall. Is this spot part of the woods where the soil is dark and loamy.

Wow! Bringing in heavy equipment! I would suspect that this was no easy day!

I'm talking to a guy who has a CAT 297 skidsteer mulcher about doing some work on our area... however I don't think my partner will concur. It's rather less polite than a chainsaw, LOL

Fellas,
It is in the same area Latt, its just some areas were inaccessible to me until now. I won't pretend that was a piece of cake, my nerves were wrecked all day. I was very happy to plop down in the lazy boy on flat ground last night... It's one thing to tip an excavator over, its another to tip over and roll 200'.

Hillhopper,

I sure do admire your determination, and after working some 34 years in construction, I can appreciate those "white knuckle" or "heart in the throat" moments. I'm sure you deserved that easy chair at the end of the day.

Those access tram ways will pay off handsomely.

This past fall, I used an ATV with one of those ATV tow carts, and it made things a whole lot more convenient Fortunately, the slopes I was dealing with were safely passable, albeit a little leaning in some spots.

Thanks BFB,
To be honest, a few moments I had made me wish I never started but I got it finished. I pretty much _base_ everything on if I can at least reach it with an atv or small tractor. If I can't then I don't plant there because I can't spray it when necessary with efficiency. For me, its the difference between a hobby and a business venture.
