This is a planting bed I made a couple of weeks ago. It is bit smaller than I usually make for a pound of seed. However I am going to transplant some of them when they reach 2 years old assuming they grow at all. This is the soil that is dark rich and loamy with a calcium level of 6,900 lbs PPA. PH level is a bit higher than I would like as it is 6.7 PH but it is still in the acceptable range on the high end. Two different fellas that have farmed for many many years said that in their opinion the PH should be OK.
That is my youngest some at the top of the pic. He is 6 foot tall so this will give you some perspective.

This was probably the second nicest ginseng plant I found this year.It is still alive as we transplanted it to a different safer location. It was about 30 inches tall.

Two nice four prongs enjoying the cool side of the woods. Found these while summer mushroom hunting. They are still there growing side by side for now.

Very nice root! Don't you love it when you start to dig and you see that big old fat neck hooked to the stem?

Latt,

She does have a nice pair or legggggs !

A bit to hairy for me though

PS - Guys I deleted all of those "HI post by johnget84" appeared to be some kind of bot generated spam.

I also deleted the reply above that hillhopper commented on.

Would be nice if the forum itself had some kind of defense against post like that.

Latt on that spot that has such high calcium levels, can't wait to hear the results from that planting.

I collected a soil sample from a spot where I found some really nice plants growing big and healthy around the lower end of a limestone bluff.
The soil there is rock chip filled and the seng was really loving it. I have not sent it off for testing yet but will get to that soon. I bet it will come back with very high levels of calcium too, and would not doubt if the PH was higher than what you would be ideal for seng.

I will let you all know when I get that soil test back.
