I just wanted to introduce myself.I have been a visitor here for sometime and enjoy it alot.It's nice to find people that share the same unique passion for digging.Church,Family,Hunting,Fishing and Root digging in that order is what cranks my motor. Good to have you joining us. You're in the lower edge of the ginseng growing area. It gets pretty warm down there and we got a good taste of it here in East Tennessee this year. Tell us a little bit about your ginseng experience. Most all of us on here are good at exagerating a little, but mine is mostly about fish. Tell us a tall tale if you have any. Finally got someone more south than me on here

I've been digging on and off bout 20 yrs.The last 4 yrs have really been getting back into it more. I have access to some good ground and enjoy the hunt more than the dig now.I can usually scratch up 4 or 5 pd dry before deer season starts.The dry hot weather is going to make for another short season here I'm afraid.

4 or 5 lbs dry is great. Sounds like you have some good ground to hunt on. I agree too, the thrill of the hunt is a lot of fun. I must admit thou, I love to dig the root with hopes of it being a special one. Never know until you break ground. I know the stalk and size of the plant can most often tell the tale of what is beneath but not always.
