TOPIC: Seed Bed & Wild Simulated & Garden stuff

Re:Seed Bed & Wild Simulated & Garden stuff 9 years 9 months ago #28820

Happy 4th of July - to all.

And what a nice one, weather wise - here it is nice and cool and low humidity and a beautiful sunny day.

We don't usually have that on the 4th of July here.

I always go blackberry picking on the 4th of July weekend and did pretty good this morning. I had a gallon milk jug to carry them in and I filled it to the top.

Below is a pic.

Man my wife will turn those into some of my favorite jam, and a blackberry cobbler. Yum Yum.

We have been eating red ripe homegrown tomatoes for about 3 weeks now.

My plants are loaded..

In the next few days I should have some Ambrosia sweet corn ready.

Ears are starting to fill out nicely now.

Here is what that extra tall billy 4 prong looks like this morning in my seed bed.

I have several that have small green berries on now.

Here is a pic showing the rest of the plants past that nice big 4.

They are liking the nice weather this year and looking good.

Looks good TN, you can just send that corn my way when it gets ready.

My beans are just starting to flower, and my sweetcorn is up to my knees. That's pretty good for me :)

That question is worthy of a new post. It's been addressed many times here, and perhaps a search will provide your answer. Sometimes a different direction of inquiry takes over someone's thread, and moves away from the originals poster'sl intent.

I picked 20 red ripe tomatoes off 6 plants this morning...

Going to have a BLT for supper with a ear or two of that sweet corn on the side :-)

Those BIG BEEF tomatoes have proved to be heavy producers and very good tasting tomatoes with nice texture. Size wise they are around fist size or a little larger, meaty, nice deep red and round shaped.

I will definitely be growing them year after year in the future.... or until i find a better hybrid tomato.

Taste wise they do not compare to the (old heirloom tomato - brandywine) oh man those are good)... but I can say the big beef taste as good or better than any hybrid tomato I have ever grown.
