TOPIC: My Ginseng Plants are 5 years old now

My Ginseng Plants are 5 years old now 8 years 10 months ago #35463

About 5 years ago I planted 5 lbs of seed in a great spot.

I went to the spot last night and dug about 6 plants to transplant to a different woods for an experiment. I was very happy to see how many there were and how big and healthy they were.

Here are a few pics from last night. These plants are only 5 years old or so. They are pretty big for their age due to the great soil quality.

Nice looking plants there Latt.

I like to see em with those big broad leaves. Healthy and doing well.

I have some 5 year olds that are half that size.

Great looking plants. That must be some prime soil they're growing in.

Good Luck

Latt,

Those are some really nice plants. Do you remember the seed source?

Thanks everyone.
Yes the soil is amazing. I have seng growing in other areas that were planted in the fall of 2007 that have roots and tops that are not half as big as these.

When I planted these about 5 years ago I bought seed from multiple sources. I drew a map and a few other spots of the seed I planted but have since lost it. Back then I kind of thought it might be important to know where the seng seed came from. However, if I knew then what i know now, I would have made sure I took better care of the darn map.

There were seed suppliers that I bought seed from in WI, MO, MD and OH. I cannot remember for the life of me which ones I put seed down from at the good spot. I just know I put seed from one at the top of the hill and one from another at the bottom of the hill.
Both suppliers seed did pretty good.

I know that's not much help now though.

Thanks,
Latt
