In my area the buyers are saying $500 to $515. Some are saying the gensing is going back down because of the economy. I just don't know what to think??
Heard from diggers they were quoted any where from 480.00-535.00 yesterday.
We are around 500 more or less depending much more on the quality and not the quantity.
Hopefully the market will pickup by Thanksgiving as normal.
I would like to add that I am seeing a lot of poorly handled and smaller than normally dug roots this season. I believe is this is due to greed and short term gratification. Running through the woods digging everything in sight will only lead to less harvest in the future. Meanwhile we have a less than desirable crop to offer our overseas customers. If the size and quality of our roots is lower the price will reflect it. I must repeat that all Ginseng roots are not valued the same.
