Bumbles are everywhere in the orchards. Hardest working bees there are. I'll be in the orchards before sunrise and the bumbles are there right after sunrise.

Honeycrisp are the last to bloom. They are just starting a King bloom.

Great pics Maya. I would love to try my hand at an orchard but probably don't have the time considering everything else. Maybe 20 trees or so would be alright.
Didn't you tell me Honeycrisp wouldn't do well in TN? If so, anything close to a Honeycrisp for a substitute?

Thanks guys. Hobbler, it looks like we may be out of the woods after the last few nights. Tuesday I was up at 3:00 AM burning. Slight frost but no damage.

Hillhopper check out Zestar!. One of my favorite apples and I believe you could grow them down there. Great flavor similar to HC's, good for fresh eating and cooking, and they mature early. Up here around the 20th of August. Easy to grow , but very susceptible to scab.

Pristine is another. Very good eating and have very good resistance to scab and fireblight.

There are tons, but these are a couple off hand that you might like.

Research varieties here....
