I planted my rootlets upright in several years old compost. I dug a trench and put in the compost and then put roots upright, and then spread the other dirt over them and put leaves over the bed. Can anyone tell me if I need to redo the planting and lay the roots down sideways. RT Wink

You will be fine with the angle. It may even create a more wild looking root.

My bigger concern is the compost. Disease and heat from the rapid decay of the materials may be a more than the roots can handle.

I assume the area is well drained and shaded?

the angle i also know will work. I have always planted vertical with next years bud pointed up. Thats the only way i have ever planted and have always been successful . I don't know about the compost though i have just always planted in the ground with nothing added
