Harvest volume up or down in your state 9 years 2 months ago #34530

Dealers did you find harvest volume up or down in your state? How was your over all quality this season?

I'm not a dealer, but some of the hunter/diggers I know said they found a lot fewer roots than average this year, however the ones they found seemed larger than average. But, that's just the luck of where you were hunting I suppose, and not really an indicator of the ginseng market as a whole.

Nationwide data.. is there such a thing? This forum is as close to that as it gets, I'm thinking. And i don't think anyone tabulates stuff here. Maybe some that are \"Officials\" would like to weigh in here...

Having said that, I do remember that a drought such as the one --two seasons ago-- will have persistent effects for several years after. both in plant growth and seed production.

Most states publish the amount of ginseng harvested for legal export.
Ga figures not out yet. Just wondered if any dealers had heard from their
State yet.

That information, on a nationwide level, to my best knowledge, isn't publicly published.

One could theoretically piece-meal information, state by state, year by year.

I think I saw were it is compiled buy the use
ed buy the usda but have no idea were to find the data .
Maybe someone smarter than me could come up with it.
It would be interesting to see if production is up or down the previous yr.

thanks to KYGinseng for weighing in here.

I know that certain educational scholars get their data from somewhere... Just don't know where.

That's strange, why wouldn't it be available?
