TOPIC: 20 oz Today - fading fast now - few berries left

20 oz Today - fading fast now - few berries left 13 years 7 months ago #5886

Hey Guys,

I had a decent Morning hunt today for a few hours.

Ended up with 20 oz.

Almost all of the red berries are gone now - only found maby 6-8 plants that still had a few berries left - rest were gone.

Also found a lot of yellow plants laying down and many with prongs or leaves missing. After a good rain many of those just will not be found anymore till next year.

Found some that still looked like they might hang on a few more weeks to.

This place had some nice plants, good sized roots and it seemed to prefer to grow in bunches of 4-6 plants all in a wad.

Here is a few pics I took.

Better get out there and get it while it last. Don't think it is going to last much longer this year.

Looks like maby a first year 4 pronger - had one prong that was small with only 3 leaves.

Nice color to it - they really stand out when they start yellowing up like that.

Weather was very nice today - finally cooled off a bit and got a little rain last night (first in weeks).

Had a first time seng hunter with me today, hunting on his property and he seemed to really like it. He even found a few on his own after a little good coaching and he has several more hollows that we can look in if we can get to them all before the seng gets too far gone.

If not - then perhaps next year.

Hope you all had a good day !

Congrats on a good dig! I'm calling it quits up here in ohio for this year. The seng is pretty much done in most areas around here.

We had over three inches of rain on thurs., knocked down what was still standing, no berries for last week on any plants I have seen. This will end very soon.
