TOPIC: For those who don't want to use Bleach

For those who don't want to use Bleach 12 years 2 months ago #16628

http://www.quickgrow.com/gardening_articles/hydrogen_peroxide_horticulture.html

I've been thinking about a Non Harmful Alternative to Bleach.I use Peroxide Regularly to Sterilize and Clean Hot Tub Filters and was looking into a way to sterilize dirt to plant Fern Spores.I ran across a website saying that Peroxide can be used to Sterilize Expensive seeds.I have some ginseng seed that actually molded in the refrigerator and treated them with Bleach.I still have some of them left and will re treat them with Peroxide before planting the rest.;)

jughead

Good Point to bring up.

I believe bleach can sometimes damage the seeds and cause poor germination.

The past three years I have used natural seed treatments such as Bacillus subtilis and Azoxystrobin which comes from mushrooms. Have had good germination from these treatments.

I think there is plenty of alternative seed treatments that are more natural than bleach. Bleach is little on the harsh side for treating seeds.

Thanks,
