TOPIC: When is it Too Late to Plant

When is it Too Late to Plant 9 years 6 months ago #32421

Hi,
I've planted about 1.5 pounds of seeds this fall and have half a pound left. The weather in Wisconsin the last few nights is just below freezing. Does this put the end to planting or could I plant the remainder and be OK?
Thanks,
Doug

You should be fine as long as the ground isn't too frozen.

Don't wait too much longer, seems like the Great Lakes region is gunning for an early winter it seems.

You should be good as long as the \"big freeze\" hasn't hit yet. I planted until December last year because my time was so limited, right up until the ground froze solid and my plants came up in the spring none the less. I haven't even started planting yet this year. I wait for most of the leaves to come down first. I do most of my planting in Nov if I can. The ground freezes up at night but thaws out in the morning and is good most of the day.
