I was a little bit down too when heard about his sprays a while ago. But it didn't surprise me considering the area and the amount of ginseng he has. For what it's worth, here is the mention of his organic certificate,
Maybe he's able to achieve that by refraining from spraying the last 2 years before harvest? So if he let them grow for 10 years, he can spray the first 8? Most organic certificate requires no chemicals for 2 years since they just deal with annual vegetable or fruit crops. I'm purely hypothesizing here and could be really off.
