Will ginseng grow well enough under 60 year old Spruce trees (mostly Norway Spruce) in northern Illinois on deep black soil? Some of the trees have died out or are dying out, mostly due to vines and other trees choking them out. I've cut out all the vines, mulberry trees, poison ivy, blackberry, gooseberry, elderberry, etc. Thanks.

P.S. Perhaps I should also mention that the bottom branches are dead from the ground up to about 20-30 feet+, and the bottom 10 feet of dead branches have been cut off.
