TOPIC: I'm still growing

I'm still growing 2 years 7 months ago #42831

Haven't posted much in years...
Just stopped by to say it takes years, but it's possible to grow "wild" ginseng from bought seed.

Hey 5prong... good to hear from you.

I harvested some of my wild sim last year (some 9 and 10 year olds) and sold them with the wild that I dug.

They looked just like wild and the dealer never questioned them... he just kept saying... that is some good looking seng :-)

Hope you are doing well and you have great results with your wild sim too.

TN, I've got lots of 9 and 10 year olds, and younger. Have had mixed results of course, but I do have a good bit scattered throughout the hills around here. For the most part it is pretty slow growing, so I let them go a little longer. Deer have been my biggest problem. They will browse anything out in the open. Especially when the plants get bigger. I do occasionally dig some, but no large harvests so far. It sure is fun walking around the woods looking at all of them in the spring time. Half or better are gone come September, but each spring is enjoyable to me.
